  • Brush Over Graffiti - a mural / art program where paint is provided to create "art" on a graffiti hotspot
  • Grow Over Graffiti - the premise is to grow trees, shrubs and ivy to cover up or block historically graffiti walls/fences
  • Successful Community Volunteer Programs, initiated by citizens - highlight the Great Northwest HOA in SA
  • As a past recipient of the Graffiti Hurts Grant, we had the Place Light Upon Graffiti (PLUG) program. Monies were used to purchase solar lights, so that citizens could use lighting as a preventative measure in dealing with graffiti vandalism
  • Annual Graffiti Wipeout Volunteer Days and its evolution - to date, we've worked with over 12,000 volunteers for this annual volunteer day. March 2015 will be our 12th annual event.

The management of tags and graffiti is everyone's business.  Gatineau stands out for its Tags and graffiti prevention and support program, outcome of several years of work by a multidisciplinary team. The program’s success is undeniably due to the choice of a preventive approach integrating youth, graffiti artists and all residents in its development and implementation. The program earned the 2009 Mérite Ovation municipale award from the Union des Municipalités du Québec and has three components: prevention, cleanup and by-laws. Each component has specific objectives that are achieved through actions and strategies. The presentation will focus on several concerted actions achieves through years of work proving to be effectives.
